About Dr Frank Wang

Dr Frank Wang is a specialist general, laparoscopic and upper gastrointestinal surgeon who has a keen interest in the management of complex hepatopancreatobiliary disease and surgical oncology.

His achievements in academia through a Master degree in Clinical Epidemiology and extensive background in research, publications and education have led to his appointment as a senior lecturer in surgery at Western Sydney University.

Dr Wang’s commitment to postgraduate surgical training is further enhanced by his position as a hospital supervisor in General Surgical Training in Campbelltown Hospital and a member of the NSW-ACT Training Committee RACS GSA.

Dr Wang received his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery with Honours at University of New South Wales in 1999.

He completed the basic surgical training at St George Hospital (2000-03) and the advanced general surgical training at John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle (2004-2007). He was reappointed at John Hunter Hospital as a clinical superintendent and an upper GI fellow in 2008. He was awarded the Covidien Travel Fellowship from RACS which he undertook at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Taiwan as a HPB and liver transplant fellow.

Upon his return to Sydney, Dr Wang gained further experience in complex HPB surgery as part of the ANZHPBA post followship training at Prince of Wales, Royal North Shore and Bankstown Hospitals.

Presently, Dr Wang continues his commitment to providing high quality patient care in general, laparoscopic and HPB surgery as a general and upper GI surgeon working in the South West Sydney Local Health District, and training the future surgeons through his roles at the Western Sydney University and the RACS.
